Camila Jaber is a world-class freediver who uses sport and artistry to address our contemporary environmental crises.

Camila holds four Mexican National Records in freediving: one for a dive without fins (called "CNF"), reaching a depth of 58 meters below water; a second national record of 85 meters for a dive wearing a monofin (“Constant Weight” or CWT); a third national record of 77 meters for free immersion (FIM); and a fourth national record of 81 meters for dive wearing two fins (called "CWTB").

In all disciplines, Camila reaches these astonishing depths without a connection to a supply of oxygen. While some consider freediving an extreme sport, it is best performed through serenity, not adrenaline.

The sport of freediving gives Camila a rare connection to the world's waterways.

I've found my place in the Ocean, I go to it for advice, enjoyment, and to remember what I am here for."

“Your body knows what to do. Your heart rate slows. Your capillaries limit the flow of blood to your extremities to focus on your vital organs. Your mind calms. With no effort, you're sinking into the depths of the Ocean, and deeper into yourself. This is why it is a very harmonious way of exploring the underwater world.”

As an activist, Camila is earnestly committed to protecting the Ocean. She holds a degree in Water Resources Engineering and hopes to use her platform and deep study of water issues to address the critical challenges facing the planet's Oceans and freshwater ecosystems.

Her 2020 short film "I Am Cenote" was awarded first place in #CreateCOP26, a global arts competition supported by UNESCO that took place before the highly anticipated United Nations Climate Change Conference (known as COP 26) in Glasgow.

"Our planet's future is created by each one of us living in the present. My motivation is in the belief that the deeper I dive, the louder my message becomes."
